Cut a 45-degree angle at both ends of each of the eight-by-three-of-18 hardwood boards with a miter saw. Angles should be opposite each other on the three-inch side of each board so that the boards can no longer stand on the narrowest, smallest edge straight up. Bed side table with drawer will together form two support frames around the legs in the form of two squares. The angles when they come together form the right angle on the inside corner support frames. Place four of 1 of 3-of-18 hardwood boards together into one box. Place the remaining four together to form a second box.

Apply a string of wood glue to the joints where the boards will together form the boxes. Pin the box assemblies together with bar clamps. Let the glue dry. Remove the bar clamps. Adjust the panel 3/4-by-18-by-18-inch hardwood plywood on top of a box assembly. Apply a string of bed side table with drawer glue around the joint where the panel meets the box assembly edges. Attach the panel to the assembly by running flush trim wood screws through the panel in the side’s box. Space the screws every three inches. This is the top of the nightstand.
