Sauder 4 Drawer Chest – A dramatic chest of drawers can make a statement in a bedroom. Most of us have a cabinet with drawers that has survived a few moves, children or years of service. These chests can be old and a bit tired but still be in good shape. With a little ingenuity, you can make your chest again to make it one of the star pieces in your bedroom. The simple design of many breasts makes them a good candidate for all types of finishing applications.
Decoupage your chest by first removing the hardware on the chest and making the necessary repairs, such as filling gaps, hardening of the feet, screws, drawer or lose back. Sand the chest to create a smooth surface. Look through magazines, books, vintage-age cards, theater programs or any image that you really like. Cut out the images and the decoupage on the chest. For decoupage, paint the decoupage paste on the chest and then on the image. Cover all or part of the thorax. Seal with several layers of sealer, and your chest will look like a vintage painting. Add fresh glass knobs to finish the look.
Make your chest in the form of a movie star, covering your chest in the mirrors. Have your glass company pre-drill your hardware holes when the mirrors are cut for you. The edges of the mirrors have to be smooth too. Place the mirror for the chest with mirror adhesive. Tape the mirrors instead of two or three days to make sure the glue has hardened. Insert mirror or clear knobs to complete the look.
