Pine Chest Of Drawer – Many construction woodwork projects require crates, which requires wood bonding skills and some specialized tools. Builders do not have access to a table saw they can build a wooden crate, but it will depend on the simple butt joints that are weaker than the more precise chin joint. Determine the measurements for the drawer. Measure the height, width, and depth of the opening and the space for the drawer in the cabinet or another furniture item in which it will fit.

These measurements are used to calculate the lengths of component parts. Cut the necessary pieces for the rustic pine chest of drawers. Cut a 1/4 inch piece of plywood for the width and depth dimensions of the drawer; this will serve as the bottom of the drawer. Cut two pieces of pine from 1 inch to 1 inch in size 1 shorter than the depth of the box these will serve as the sides.

Cut the front and back pieces of each 1-inch pine the same length as the width of the drawer. Tear cut joints at the front, back and sides at the expected height of the drawer. Cut a recess one slot to receive the other board – at the ends of the front and rear pieces. Adjust the cutting height of the table saw to 3/4 inches and set the 3/4 inch fence to the blade. Keep the back plate of the solid wood chest of drawers in an upright position and move the end of the table through the saw.
